Mrs. Donwerth

Centennial Teacher of the Year, Jennifer Donwerth!

What a fantastic celebration our Centennial family enjoyed this week for our “Teacher of the Year Reveal”! What an honor it was to experience the warm and heartfelt support for two stellar members of our Centennial family (and this is saying a lot, because our school is filled with talented, devoted, and amazing teachers)!

Jennifer Donwerth. our Centennial Teacher of the Year, will enjoy a year of honor, and also the chance (along with all Edmond Public Schools TOYs) to go on to the next round to see who will be named as finalists for District Teacher of the Year. One of the six will be announced as Teacher of the Year at the Celebration of Excellence next spring!

Did you know? Mrs. Donwerth is also among six state-level finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).

Established in 1983, PAEMST is the highest recognition a K-12 mathematics or science teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. Awards alternate each year between elementary and secondary teachers.

The finalists for this award were chosen by a local selection committee of teachers, district-level personnel, representatives from higher education and past awardees. Each finalist demonstrated a mastery of math or science instruction and the effective use of student assessments to improve student learning. Up to two Oklahoma finalists could be named national recipients of the award.

The national recipients represent all 50 states and U.S. territories. Winners will receive a paid trip to Washington, D.C., to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation and a certificate signed by the President of the United States.

Fingers crossed, Well Done, and Congratulations, Mrs. Donwerth!

Also, congratulations to Mrs. Decker for her nomination for Teacher of the Year!
