Odyssey of the Mind World Finals: The Problem this team chose to was “Ready, Set, Balsa, Build!”  Precision and creativity are needed to design and create a structure made of balsa wood that can balance and support as much weight as possible. When the structure must include an exact number of specific sizes, even more creativity and precision is required. Teams will create and present a performance about precision that includes testing their own original  balsa wood structure. Glue may be used to hold the pieces of wood together, but the structure could not weigh more than 15 grams!

The team took their solution to World Finals held at Michigan State University and competed along with 850 other teams from around the world.  During their performance the structure held 214 pounds which placed them 25th in their Division.

These buffalos also spent time with their “buddy” team from China, where they taught their new friends how to play frisbee.
The team was:

Toni Louque
